Live Coverage from Udine Film Fest 2010

Unlike Nippon Connection, you can expect a live coverage via Twitter for the Udine Far East Film Fest 2010, some people to follow:

Kozo from LoveHKFilm
Darcy Paquet from KoreanFilm
Frederic Ambroisine, journalist specialized in chinese cinema – his blog
Lorna Tee, asian film producer

All of them have been added to the Udine 2010 list! Suggestions & updates are welcome!

The Sushi Typhoon Is Coming!

In November ’09, Nikkatsu announced the creation of Sushi Typhoon, a new label to produce japanese genre films like Tokyo Gore Police… Some famous directors will make films for this label; Noboru Iguchi, Yoshihiro Nishimura, Sion Sono, Takashi Miike…

Hopefully, because these films should be released in North America, the label has opened a twitter account to share new details… in english!! And, an official website should be going live really soon! But what can we expect?

We hope to bring you blogs, video diaries and live feeds from the filmmakers as they work on completing the films that will make up The Sushi Typhoon!

Asian Film Directors on Twitter?

Believe the hype or not, but as many other web service, Twitter is first a great tool to communicate with others. In north america, some famous directors are already using it to share thoughts/infos, chat with their audience, like Kevin Smith for ex. And it’s slowly coming to Asia.

Until now, I’ve only found;
Kazuhiko Hasegawa – The Man Who Stole The Sun
Noboru Iguchi – The Machine Girl
Motohiro Katsuyuki – Bayside Shakedown 3
• Go Shibata’s Doman Seman
Edmund Yeo – Kingyo

Share your findings too!

From Cannes: Isabel Coixet's Map of the sounds of Tokyo

A serial-killer story set in Tokyo, directed by spanish director Isabelle Coixet, and starring Rinko Kikuchi. The twitter reactions:

@InsideCannes> Isabel coixét lost un translation.

@Thomas_STUDIO> Finally we’ve found the shit of the festival. It’s from Isabel Coixet!

@firstshowing> Ugh another terrible film, or at least very bland, it got booed… Map of the Sounds of Tokyo was bad, not suggest at all.

@alisonwillmore> MAP OF THE SOUNDS OF TOKYO: Isabel Coixet, you win: Worse film I’ve seen here. Painful “assassin falls in love with target” story.

@gemko> Map of the Sounds of Tokyo (’09 Coixet): 26. Jesus, what a fucking hack. Just an embarrassment. I hope bribes were involved, at least.
