A Japanese Cinema Blogathon in June?

Fans of Japanese Cinema are everywhere: what if, during one week we unite our forces to promote Japanese Cinema? To write, share ideas about it? It could be fun!

It’s open to everyone willing to share or discover things about J-cinema. Whoever you are, whatever language you speak, you are welcome to participate!

But what means a blogathon? Someone writes a review about a film, you don’t agree, feel free to publish your point of view on your blog. Someone is looking for good films to watch, publish your top 10, then others will do the same on their blogs… As long as it’s related to japanese cinema, it’s good!

Because the whole idea of this event is, helping readers to discover films. And of course, having fun. After all, we’re a community, different ideas for the same passion!

We could do it from June 15th to 21st. It would give us a month to gather some ideas… What do you think?

Anyone interested? Have your say!

Cool idea !

Maybe we can try to use IdeaTorrent ?
http://ideatorrent.org

“IdeaTorrent is what can be defined as an “open innovation software”: it lets people submit their ideas, brainstorm them, and vote on them”

Great idea. I’m on a personal Japanese blog-a-thon all year round, but choosing a top ten will be tough. I’ve got a slightly trashier taste in movies though…

Are we getting any more guidelines or coordination? Do we send you links for any posts intended for the blogathon?

Mark> A special article including every posts done for the blogathon will be publish soon, and it will be daily updated during the event. This will be the main article for the blogathon. It’ll be easier to know who said what, and I hope, to build something (because it’s sort of a guideline)

Plus, I’ll follow your rss feeds of course!

And glad to see, there are still more people interested!

Over at Movie Feast, we’ve committed to devoting the entire month to reviews of Japanese film, with a particular focus from the 15th to the 21st.
Some films to be featured include: YOUTH OF THE BEAST, ONIBABA, INCIDENT AT BLOOD PASS, GODZILLA: FINAL WARS, BANDITS VS SAMURAI SQUADRON, GOJOE, and FUNERAL PARADE OF ROSES just to name a few.
We’ve written an article promoting the event to anyone else interested. I’m very excited to check out what everyone else produces.

Count me in I guess. I regularly (that is, whenever I feel like it) write reviews and my blog specifically reviews Japanese and Chinese films that I’m sure not many people have seen. It’s not very technical or very academic though. Its aim is to just create interest (and avoid spoilers).

I’m hoping to get a post done for the recent Kino releases of “Detective Bureau: Go To Hell Bastards!” and “3 Seconds To Explosion”. I may also submit an older post on Kinji Fukasaku’s “Yakuza Papers” (all 5 films).

Let’s see if I can work out a small Nobuhiro Yamashita article before the end of the week. And a few smaller reviews before that, plus one kick ass Japan Action Club choreographed high school action series.

So I’m a little late to the party, but better late than never!

I just did a small post on Nagisa Oshima on my blog Subtitle Literate, featuring a couple of his trailers. I’ll most likely do another Japanese film-related post within the next few days.
