i’m however a bit disappointed. When I read Nikkatsu, I was hoping to have at least some few Nikkatsu Action…. but nope. As usual.
Merci pour l’info – Grosse vague de pinku donc mais pourquoi uniquement du pinku ? (non, je n’ai pas encore regardé l’interview de M. Chiche qui répond peut-être à la question). Question de droits, “package” Nikkatsu ? Créneau porteur (la fesse fait toujours vendre même l’absence de talent – commentaire général vu que je ne connais pas les films annoncés) et donc moins de risques commerciaux ? Il n’y avait vraiment pas moyen de caser “autre chose” parmi cette trentaine de titres ? Je sens que je vais continuer encore un peu à suivre les sorties Criterion ou Master of Cinema…

it would be interesting to know how rights were split between Wildside / Carlotta (especially about kumashiro & tanaka flicks). Some selected titles are not really memorable ones …

I agree with Martin, the selection could have been a bit better, but there’s really some great movies here anyway. Sad point is when you read reactions about this on french forums, you understand there’s still a long way to go.
By the way I found In the realm of sex entertaining, and Attacked quite interesting, at least seen as a part of Hasebe’s rape series

well, just look at the the poor reception of such gems as Woman with red hair or Tanaka’s gorgeous Semeru. Hopefully Wildside would release the ‘author’ flicks before their numerous 80s SM flicks. I guess the VOD alternative can be a good thing for these.

i found it rather lame, the more Konuma i see, the more i find he’s a very overrated director! some nice aesthetic, some light psychological aspect .. but nothing much more in the end!

it’s an interesting movie seen as part of Hasebe’s series. but As a standalone, it’s a rather odd, radical .. and boring movie

Are there films on that list that Geneon didn’t put out? A couple of titles don’t ring a bell but that could be just my lack of knowledge.
Could Young Prostitute by Kumashiro be Path of the Beast? Generally speaking I consider Kumashiro over-rated, but Beast is very good. Painful Bliss is another film by him I really like (and also probably the only Naomi Tani film I don’t hate).
Sad to see none of the not-on-dvd titles I was looking forward to (Pink Hip Girl sequels, Female Ninja Magic, unreleased Yukihiro Sawada films etc.) are on that list. But then, I wasn’t really expecting to see those films. Foreign companies probably want to stick to films that have already been remastered.
yes, the WildSide selection was made from the Geneon releases. For other rare titles, it seems dmm.Co.jp is the solution (there is about 200+ vhs title)… limited to japanese resident though
… about pink hip girl, i doubt other O’hara youth titles were ever released on vhs (i didn’t find thoses titles on dmm few month ago)
