Deauville Asia: Normandie goes Asian!

Deauville Asia is one of the few Film Festival dedicated to Asian cinema in France, but criticized for his poor selection of films – some says that French are never satisfied, others say that auteur-exoticism just doesn’t mean good films. Who knows?

Anyway, because there’s no much press coverage, french readers should be happy to know they can follow the whole festival on that blog. And as you can see, ratings aren’t that good.

Otherwise, check out the official site (both in english and french).

I go every year and be sure that this festival is worst year after year. Now there is only 2 screens io 3, and part of audience has to stay outside as the second theatre, which is screening the non-boring movies, has not much seats. Today, I did not catch half of the movies I was planning to see. Poor organisation, poor programme….. poor festival.
I’ll go to Frankfurt in April. No way it could be worst than that.

so predictable
even if i must admit i was foreseen to see The shaft as Best movie (not beacause of movie’s qualities, only because of subject).
Breathless…. ok nice movie, but it’s overestimating it to give the winning price to this flick. Korean movie…. violence… violence… pure korean movie, usual tic, like bad cliché. However, movie is sometimes quite surprising by not going where we anticipated.
Bad festival, anywway, due to poor organisation and direspect to audience and movies. Money…. yep.
