Since its inception in 1933, Toho Co., Ltd., Japan’s most famous movie production company and distributor, has produced and/or distributed some of the most notable films ever to come out of Asia, including Seven Samurai, Godzilla, When a Woman Ascends the Stairs, Kwaidan, Woman in the Dunes, Ran, Shall We Dance?, Ringu, and Spirited Away. While the western world often defines Toho by its iconic classics, which include the Godzilla franchise and many of the greatest films of the legendary director Akira Kurosawa and actor Toshiro Mifune, these pictures represent but a tiny fraction of Toho’s rich history.

ah, je pensais pourtant avoir laissé un commentaire ici il y a quelques jours.
En substance je disais que j’ai dejà rapidement parcouru le livrs sur le theatre japonais de cet éditeur et que j’avais trouvé que c’etait un enorme et bon travail universitaire. Par conséquent, ce livre sur la Toho m’interesse au plus haut point. Par contre quelques échos pas forcément positifs trainent sur le net, niveau finition du livre (en fonction aussi du prix demandé)
Déjà Feuilleté, je le comparerai au bouquin “L’Encyclopédie du Cinéma de Hong-Kong” sorti l’année dernière. C’est plus un annuaire des films tournés par la Toho dans l’ordre chronologique.
Interessant (je ne sais pas si indispensable est le mot approprié) pour les historiens et les vrais passionnés de cinéma japonais comme vous et moi !

Dis comme ça c’est tout de suite moins attirant, il n’y a pas d’articles de fond ou d’interview pour le prix?
