A New Japanese Film Blogathon, Soon? Yes!

Seems like some people want another Japanese Film Blogathon! Whaddya say? YES?!

Back in June ’09, with many bloggers from ALL AROUND THE WORLD, we spent one week writing about japanese cinema (including animation), sharing our thoughts, discovering new interesting films AND bloggers. That was pretty fun as you can see!

So, after all, let’s do it again! We need to find one week, and one theme. For example, from Oct 27 to Nov 3, 2010, about Halloween/Horror stuff in Japanese cinema. That’s only a suggestion, now, have your say!

EDIT 2 — What you need to know: Blogathon dates = November 3-10 // Theme = Just Japanese Cinema! Check the comments to find the Blogathon logo, and if needed, here’s the facebook event page!

If you enjoyed this article, keep updated!

Hey I’d be in for sure. Have been doing so all month…

Over at Movie Feast we participated last time, and we’re certainly bounding the idea around again.

I might suggest moving the date until the first week of November, since many blogs already have themes locked in for the rest of this month. But, either way i’d certainly be interested in participating.

I’m up for a blogathon – horror is not really my area of expertise, but I will support the whatever the general consensus is for a theme.

November 3rd is an auspicious day to start a J blogathon: it’s Bunka no Hi (Culture Day)

I’m in. Just remind me how we did it …

So, November 3-10? Anyone’s okay with that?

The theme was also a suggestion — I think a theme-driven blogathon could offer some ideas for everyone to start blogging. But if you all think Japanese Cinema is already a good start, well why not?

I’m up for November 3-10 !
For the theme, what about the japanese nūveru vāgu ?

Crime movies?

Count the J-Film Pow-Wow in! Are we talking the original Japanese New SWave in the 60′s and 70′s or a New New Wave?

9 Emmanuel October 27, 2010 at 8:52 am

I’m talking about the 60′s-70′s, with Oshima, Yoshida etc

Cross-posted on the facebook event page;

I’m starting to think the simplest solution would be just “Japanese Cinema” , that way, people would be free to write about what they want – either crime-horror films or new (new) j-wave or else. More ideas = more fun I guess?

In fact, just like we did last year.

Now, about the logo, I propose this one (the colorful parade from Paprika):

To customize it: download this higher res version (psd)

Ok for the logo :) With the recent death of Satoshi Kon, i think that’s a nice homage.

Count me in! ;) Even though next month will be a busy one for me, I’ll try posting some new contents! (At least, a huge Kon Ichikawa interview)
