Is this the japanese Southland Tales? Doman Seman is the new indie (and provocative?) project from Late Bloomer director, Go Shibata. The film will be screened soon at the NYAFF 2010 (details inside) – and judging from this english-friendly trailer, Doman Seman sure looks like a strange trip you don’t want to miss!
Go Shibata depicts a daring parallel world set in Kyoto. Freeloader Shinsuke meets a homeless man named Tsutomu and gets caught up in a strange series of events when a battle erupts between supernatural beings. A provocative work reflecting the confusion of our times.
Updated: The japanese title “Horikawa Nakatachiuri” is the name of a Kyoto neighborhood & the english title (?) “Doman Seman” is “a pentagram symbol most commonly associated with onmyoji Abeno Seimei“. (thx Vcinema, Ryuganji)
