Hollywood Owns Japanese Cinema?

People tend to oppose Japanese Cinema to Hollywood. This difference is true for almost every countries around the world, lots of cinephiles think “Hollywood is Satan himself“.

And strangely, most of them don’t notice something as visible as the Warner Bros logo. It opens the film, it’s the first thing you watch, but in the end you don’t remember it. For example, after watching Goemon, you think it’s a good/lame japanese film without knowing ‘Satan’ helped producing & distributing it.

Warner Bros seems to be the only major american studio involved with the production of japanese films. Not many but still, and it’s been increasing for the last 2 years. It’d interesting to know how this “help” is considered inside the Japanese Film Industry.

WTF, I don’t think that link to imdb is a good argument to say that Hollywood owns japanese cinema. It is true that some people tend to oppose these two cinema but I don’t think we can say that they are close or similar. Every countries has its commercial cinema and the help of a major like WB is a good thing to make it live.

I’m far to be in love with Hollywood but I wouldnt say that its satan. Yes it act stupidly and use all possible ways to make money but helping foreign cinema like that is a good thing. If Hollywood would never existed, the cinema would probably be not what it is today. But it is obvious that, based on the news about Assault Girls remake, Hollywood seems to have a strong lack of culture by trying to remake movies from a cinema helped by itself.

This topic has no real point, since some JApanese movies have – of course – Amercian, but also European and intertanional fundings for plenty of reasons.

As for WARNER, they have an office in Japan for general survey of the market, distribution matters and some incursions within the Japanese market (especially video), since they are actively involved in distribution of their American movies there…Like many other Hollywood major companies’ in many other countries.
