Memorable Quote: Ghost in the Shell S.A.C (2002)

And then I was the disappearing mediator. Like the author whose existence is stressed by the fact of not writing any more books. This means… “By disappearing, it becomes a regulating medium for the vitals of the social system… Finally it vanishes, leaving traces of its existence neither in nor outside the system.”

It’s the Stand Alone Complex which explains more or less how information becomes alive, which also explains the “Ghost in the Shell”. Once you’ve understood that, watching GitS films is a lot easier!

Complex. You’re right that defines perfectly Ghost in the shell. Never like it, too much blablah.

Matt ‘too much blablah’? i’ll put this nicely, dont watch it then. GitS is something you’re either able to understand or not. It’s pretty obvious you dont, i will admit there is ALOT to soak in but if you aren’t able to do that theres no need to go out of your way to bitch about it.

Dear Matt,
I agree with TLM. Don’t come to this page to complain if you aren’t a fan. There’s a whole nation of GITS fans who would barely need any effort to make you feel as stupid and uneducated as you sound. You obviously don’t understand Genome Projects at all.

Sincerely

Dear Heather,
Don’t flatter yourself by bringing something like genome projects out of relevance.
Plus, I understand genome projects pretty well. Probably even better than you especially since I do folding@home :) look it up…

Dear all,

Stop giving the most intelligent and sophisticated anime series out there a bad name with your nonsense and cock-measuring. If you don’t get it, that’s fine, it took this one three viewings although I don’t claim to be intelligent in any event. If you do like it, stop thinking that liking it makes you cleverer.

The anime is extremely advanced and progressive and you can pick something new up from it every viewing. In fact personally I prefer it to the manga. The best part about it imho is that it assumes we are already familiar with many of the issues it is dealing with and then extrapolates upon them – in many respects it forces the viewer to at least familiarise themselves with some of the concepts they’ve never heard of in order to see where the ideas are going. It’s refreshing, since most animations and movies these days are too cowardly to attempt to challenge their audiences in any way.
