I’m amazed by differences between DVD and Blu-ray. What we thought to be great with DVD was often not that great, and I guess it’ll be the same with Blu-ray.
Take for example Kurosawa’s Rashomon (1950), and compare the american Criterion disc with the recent japanese remastered Blu-ray:
Top: DVD (Criterion)
Bottom: Blu-ray (Japan version)

Le rendu est purement incroyable pour un film si ancien !
Reste à savoir si le dvd upscalé en HD rend de la même façon, ou si le bluray à été totalement restaurés image par image voir remasterisé.
