“Yakuza Eiga: A Secret Story of Japanese Cinema” is a documentary directed by Yves Montmayeur about Yakuza-genre films. It was selected at the San Sebastian Film Festival, last September.
Montmayeur said he had some troubles working on this doc, for example, he couldn’t have any clips from Kitano’s films, because the film production company (Office Kitano) didn’t want to be linked to the underworld…?!?
German/French TV channel, Arte, is airing the doc on Friday 12th February at 22h10. But it’ll be a short version (60min), while the festival version is 75min!!
